Obsolyn, the newest addition to Orlando’s metal scene, is ready to showcase their debut EP titled ‘Of Entropy.’ Making their live debut on October 13, this emerging band brings a contemporary sound that blends various heavy genres while avoiding strict metal conventions.
Formed from the remnants of the long-standing metal group Ginko Balboa, Obsolyn redefined itself after the departure of its vocalist. With new frontperson Dominique Leath, the lineup now includes Jesse Jones (bass), Joey Lopez (guitar), Steve Ryan (guitar), and Brandon Graham (drums). They quickly established a practice and recording facility known as the Shred Shed, producing their debut EP before establishing a public presence. ‘Of Entropy’ delivers a four-track experience that showcases their technical death metal roots while exploring influences from metalcore and post-metal.
As noted, the tracks navigate seamlessly between intense and melodic elements, reflecting a robust musicality from a band that benefits from its members’ previous collaborative experience. The EP is now available for streaming, and to celebrate its release, Obsolyn will perform alongside other local talent at a ‘Fresh Blood’ showcase.
