An officer from the Haines City Police Department was taken into custody on Saturday in Orlando, as indicated by online records. Officer Joseph Everett faces charges of reckless driving and driving under the influence. It has been confirmed by the Haines City PD that Everett was off duty during the incident; however, he was operating a department patrol vehicle at the time.
In a statement to FOX 35, Chief Isaac Jackson expressed grave concerns about the situation, labeling it a serious breach of the department’s General Orders. Jackson stated he was deeply troubled and disappointed by Everett’s actions, especially considering that the officer had previously been given another opportunity to serve in law enforcement following a prior separation from another agency. This incident highlights the importance of maintaining high standards of conduct and accountability within the police force.
